Famous Subliminal Messages in Music

There have been many rumors and speculations that famous songs actually contain subliminal messages. Subliminal messages used in songs are verbal or aural in natured, and are delivered either very quickly or backwards at such low volumes that the audience is unaware of receiving it. Such charges are made not just to rock music, but even Christian songs as well!

A famous subliminal message in music would be the song Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, that apparently when played backwards contains satanic messages. This is a form of reverse subliminal messages. More often than not, these are inserted for entertainment purposes or to increase sales of the album. It has been speculated that Led Zeppelin inserted the message as they thought that if people played the record backwards enough times, it would spoil it and hence lead to increased sales for them!

Other famous subliminal messages in music include one involving The Beatles, specifically the song titled Come Together, which is said to be about sex with John Lennon. Even Britney Spears, in the song “I\’m not that Innocent” had supposedly inserted the message “Sleep with me I\’m not too young” when played backwards! The rock group Queen\’s song “Another One Bites the Dust” is also purported to be talking about drug use when played backwards.

Several years ago, there was a court case involving the suing of a rock group “Judas Priest” which had inserted the subliminal message of “Do it” in their song, which the parents felt induced their children to commit suicide.

Before getting carried away and panicking about the various songs that you have listened to before, the real issue is not whether there are actual messages included in songs, but if these have any influence on the audience. If you were to hear such a message played backwards, would you be able to understand it, or subconsciously alter your behavior?

Research has shown that when participants listened to messages recorded backwards, they are unable to decode what it actually was when played normally. Their behavior was not altered in any noticeable way. After all, if listening to metal bands that proclaim death and gore do not induce people to go on a murder rampageFree Articles, it is unlikely that such subliminal messages in music can have significant adverse effects on the audience.

How to Influence People Using the Subconscious Mind

Using the power of the subconscious mind, you will find it easier to influence people, make friends, and solve problems. It all boils down to the way you program your mind to work. Below are 5 ways to help you beat the competition and stay one step ahead.

1) Develop rapport

When you establish similarities with someone, you will help their subconscious mind to feel as though there is a certain rapport with you. This can be done quite easily through the mirror technique; speaking at the same speed they use, or copying their expressions and body positions in a subtle manner will help them feel more comfortable when interacting with you. Over time and with adequate training, you will find that your own subconscious mind will remember to constantly mirror in a non-obtrusive way, and you will be able to build up rapport easily.

2) Trust your intuition

It has been said that chess Grandmasters are able to beat even the most advanced chess computers because they are able to rely on their intuition. This is not just a feeling, but a hunch that is developed based on past experiences that will allow you to analyze what would be the next best move. Your intuition is based on skills and knowledge, so learn to encourage and trust in your intuition!

3) Dispel Myths about Making Friends

It is not true that liking or disliking someone is a random and uncontrollable event. In fact, it is easy to make someone like you as the emotions associated with liking someone is controlled by the mind. If you understand and accept this, you will find it easier to put into place the little techniques that will help you move ahead by making the right connections at the right place.

4) Appeal to what they Need

Often in looking for friends or confidants, people search for someone who is similar to themselves and yet has something else that they would like to achieve. For example, professionals gravitate towards people who are equally skilled in the same field, but who have great knowledge in another field as well, or who are able to display greater leadership potential. Thus, you would do well to identify the traits that most people would like to achieve and actively display it, such as having self confidence.

5) Position yourself

Look at yourself critically in the mirror, or survey a group of close friends. Ask them how they would describe you in a few words. Is this how you want to be seen by others? If not, take active steps now to change the way you position yourself. If you are able to correctly position yourself at work, you will find it easier to gain the attention of your boss, or get a step up from the competition for that next promotion!

From the 5 techniques above, it is obvious that programming your mind has many benefits. With practice, you will find it a unconscious habit that you portray or pull off when interacting with others.

Second Key to Being Empowered in Your Life

It is through quiet time or meditation that you can become in control of your mind. If you have control of your mind as to what thoughts you think when you choose to think them then you will be able to not only change your thoughts quicker and more powerfully, but you will stop the dissipation of your energy from being scattered in numerous directions.

The best way to start with quiet time is to set aside time first thing in the morning immediately after you have awoken. Do this before having the morning beverage of choice, before getting the kids up, before reading the morning paper or listening to the news, or whatever you do in the morning.

At this time of the morning, you are still in a half asleep state and it makes it much easier to enter into an awake quiet state of mind. It is only necessary to do this daily for 15 minutes to notice changes in yourself quickly.

Proceed by sitting (do not lie down) in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and give intent for your mind to be quiet. Your intent as a given command is very powerful.

You want to achieve a state where there is absolute quietness and no thoughts present. By getting to this quiet mind state, you are then later able to choose whatever thought you want and to focus completely on that thought. By being able to focus on this one thought, you are directing more energy to it and therefore giving it more power to manifest quicker in your life.

When you first start this practice, you may find that there are thoughts running through your mind or your body is asking for attention and you are not able to reach or maintain a quiet state. There are two things to remember.

One is your body is not use to you being in a quiet repose like this while awake and so it becomes concerned that something is not right. It will show its concern by having small itches that you will want to scratch. Ignore them and reassure your body that all is fine. The itches will subside and after a period of time not even be present any longer.

The second thing is the constant flow of thoughts that seem to not stop. You mind can really be like a child out of control. Tell your mind that this your quiet time and it has the rest of the day to chatter. Be firm with your mind like you would a child.

The quantity of thoughts will diminish and soon not be present. If a singular thought does come, let it drift through you mind without angst. Remember you are in control of your mind. You are the director, the leader and you decide what is in your mind and when it is there.

Other benefits to doing this practice will be that you experience a feeling of being more centered in yourself, have more energy, and feel more self assurance and self control.

Succeed With Affirmations

The short definition for a positive affirmation is, “telling the truth about yourself in advance.”

In other words, you may not yet have learned how to eliminate procrastination from your life, but if you keep affirming to yourself, “I always do the things I need to do right now. I act without delay and I get things done,” your subconscious mind will soon begin to create that reality in your brain.

Another example might be that if you lack confidence in talking to strangers or mingling in groups, and affirmation like, “I am always confident and comfortable speaking to strangers,” my not yet be true. But with repetition, that affirmation becomes software for the brain that literally “re-wires” your brain by creating new pathways among the neurons of your brain.

The result? Before long, you will find yourself in a social situation and find yourself “working the room” as if you were born with the social skills of a master. No fear, no awkward stumbling for words or things to say, like “what about this weather we\’ve been having?”

You will simply notice that you are behaving in a polished manner as you talk to people who were complete strangers before this evening.

Was this affirmation true, in the strictest sense of the word, when you first began saying it to yourself or writing it down in a notebook? Not at all, but the potential was there, and repeating that affirmation made it true.

Affirmations are self-fulfilling prophecies about we can make about ourselves. When our subconscious minds hear them repeated again and again, they become part of our thoughts, actions, habits and nature. They are one of the basic tools available to re-program and re-wire our minds in order to bring about real and lasting change in our lives.

Just a few years after attempting suicide, Charles Brown has learned to literally “re-wire” and “re-program” his brain to achieve success in everything he attempts. He now teaches others how to use neuro-linquistic programming (NLP), subliminal technology, self hypnosis, and other methods to make major changes in their lives. Motivate Yourself With a Self-Conversation

Within the last half hour, you have probably had a conversation with yourself. unfortunately, statistics show that this conversation has probably been negative, self critical, self limiting, blaming yourself for past or future failures, or any number of self-destructive inner dialogues.

Our minds race along having inner dialogues constantly, without control and without direction.

But you can use this natural tendency to really boost your motivation, give your day a powerful lift before you even go out the door, or counter any negative emotion that threatens to cause you pain or impose false limitations upon yourself.

In other words, you can learn to carry on a self-conversation that will make you unbeatable. Unbeatable from any outside force or even from your own inner doubts and fears.

Here\’s how it works, choose a setting in which you won\’t be embarrassed. In the shower, in the car as you drive to work, while standing in front of the mirror. You can even take a walk in a park to have this conversation.

Now carry on both sides of a conversation about whatever is bugging you, or about any challenge you face.

Here\’s an example:

I\’ve got to get this big presentation ready by next Monday, but I keep putting it off. What can I do to get myself moving on this project?

Come on, you know you have all the material to put it together, you are just letting yourself be overwhelmed by the size of the job, aren\’t you?

That\’s true, right now I have all this information scattered in five notebooks and it is an unorganized mess. I don\’t know where to begin.

That isn\’t true. You can begin someplace right now, even it if it is just getting al five notebooks together in one place. Why don\’t you put them on the table in the conference room?

Okay, I can do that. But I still feel overwhelmed.

Why don\’t you make a list of everything you can think of that could be included in the presentation. Sure this list will be too long, but you can edit it down once you see it all in front of you.

Okay, I can do that. In fact I\’m already starting to feel a little better.

Great. Now what else can you do right now to help you get this project done?

Self-conversations go back and forth, letting you address your fears, doubts and negative self-imposed limitations. I particularly love doing them in front of a mirror because I can see myself growing more confident and less stressed when I can view my own reflection.
Be sure to ask yourself positive questions that seek out solutions, like, “what can I do right now to help …?” or “how can I solve this problem ….?” Solution-seeking questions help you avoid blaming questions like, “Why didn\’t I ….?” which serve no good to help you through your situation.

At first you will feel a little strange carrying on a conversation with yourself, but you will quickly find that the answers to most of your problems are already within yourself. Oftentimes you only need to sort out your emotions from the facts before you can start moving forward again.

A Very Powerful Three-Letter Word

From the time we were little children we constantly are told the word, “can\’t.”

As I write these words, I am picturing my oldest son, who is now 26 years old, when he was a toddler. I picture him with a baggy diaper, toddling from one place to another wreaking havoc in every single room in our house.

No book could be on the lower two shelves of a bookshelf, because he would pull them all down and create a pile on the floor. If he found any paperbacks among them, he was particularly fond of chewing on them (I don\’t know why, he must have like the way they tasted or something).

When we informed him that one “can\’t” pull books off of bookshelves, he was off to the kitchen. While we were replacing the books, we could hear the pots and pans being pulled out from the bottom cabinets and onto the floor where they made a glorious racket.

All this time, like respectable parents every where, we were admonishing him about what one “can\’t” do.

I realize now that I probably crippled him psychologically for life and I sincerely regret it. But the damage is done, and he, like the rest of us, has now heard hundreds of thousands of “can\’ts” in his life.

This is why the little word “can” is so powerful and so liberating to us. So you should tell yourself “I can” at every opportunity you get.

One of the ways you can tell yourself “I can” is to create positive affirmations that you can use to re-program your mind and remove the self-limiting effects of all those “can\’ts.” The words, “I can” break us free from limitations. They tell us we can do more than we previously thought possible. The let us know that the chains we imagined holding us back were all in our imaginations.

Here are some great affirmations to get yourself started:

  • I can lose weight and get in shape, starting today.
  • I can eat healthy meals with no bad carbs.
  • I can eat smaller portions and chew my food slowly.
  • I can close more sales and bring in more business than last month.
  • I can meet attractive members of the opposite sex and get them to like me.

Our lives have conditioned us to accept limitations upon what we can accomplish, on what we can earn, on where we can live, and how successful we can be. Affirmations that start with the words, “I can” are powerful tools to re-write the programming in your mind and set you free from that negative condition.

Finding Happiness in a Crazy World

Most people equate money with happiness. In fact, if you were to ask people what one thing would make them happier, more than half would say earning more money. Is this really the case? If we just make more money, would we really be happier? According to a study published in the Review of General Psychology more money does not make us happier. In fact, the study argues that the events that take place in our lives, whether they are related to money or not, make up just 10 percent of our happiness.  Australian researchers have found that people in Sydney, who tend to be well-off, are among the most miserable in the country, while those living in the poorest areas of the country are much more satisfied overall.

So why is this and what does it take to be happy? Experts say that once people get what they want, they tend to increase their expectations, thus being no happier than they were before.

If you want to experience happiness in your life, here are some tips to start following now:

  • Show gratitude - Be thankful everyday for the little things
  • Do something new
  • Do something for others - volunteer your time or donate money or resources to a good cause
  • Find work you love
  • Exercise regularly - you’ll relax your muscles, increase your pulse, and release endorphins

You don’t have to do all of these now, but start small and pick one or two.  Give it a shot, and I bet your whole life will see drastic improvement!

How to Form an Intention in Seven Easy Steps

With the best of intentions, we all wish to lead the life we want to live, with plenty of freedom to enjoy our desires and to keep us (or put us) at the top of our game. Yet, just like the practical math skills needed to balance our checking accounts, setting intentions is not exactly high on the list of things we must master in life to be productive and successful. We usually are not given the opportunity to learn how to balance our bank accounts in school, and we certainly are not often trained on how to work with our intentions.

One thing that everyone can agree on is that setting intentions is easy . . . but somehow . . . despite our best efforts . . . the results are not always what we expect. Darn! Maybe it’s harder than we thought! Like everything else, you just have to know what you’re doing.

News Flash!
Man loves dog. Wife moves out.
“When I think of my dog, I can’t stop crying out of gratitude and joy,” he confesses, adding, ” but my wife is different: I’m just numb.” When questioned further the, the unrepentant dog lover chokes back tears of joy and sobs, “I never intended this to happen. I’m so happy she didn’t take the dog with her . . .”

It’s one thing to intend to have a happy, successful relationship with your spouse; it’s another thing to “never intend” for an unsuccessful relationship to be the reality. The former is a case of leading your life. The latter is a case of your life leading you.

In the news flash above, the man made a choice to love his dog. Whether he knew it or not, he was firmly in command of his decision and his actions. He was leading his life. On the other hand, he allowed his life to lead him in the sense that he never intended to neglect or to lose his wife.

Never intending a negative is not the same as intending a positive. And this brings us to a critical point in the discussion about how to form intentions in seven easy steps.

Step One: Always deal with positives.
Think, speak, act or otherwise express yourself on in the positive. The mind cannot process a negative. If you don’t believe me, try not thinking about a Great Pyrenees eating an ice cream cone in blizzard. If you are working with your intentions, then intend! Do not ever not intend. Get it?

Step Two: Always use present tense.
You are the master of creating the reality you desire, but you never will be if you think of it in past or future terms. “I love my dog” carries more creative power than “I used to love my wife.”

Step Three: Don’t mistake your emotions for your feelings.
This one is tricky. Our day-to-day language does not make fine distinctions between the emotions and our feelings. Emotions can be positive or negative and are fairly lop-sided. Feelings are balanced emotions along with balanced thoughts all wrapped up in one reality- creating power package. Balance is the key here. The raw energy an emotional wallop packs along with a creative and self-actualized idea about something is the actual mechanism through which your consciousness creates your reality. That mechanism is your feelings.

A sign that your emotions and your thoughts are expressing themselves as feelings in a balanced way is the heightened sensitivity you might have when connecting with your environment or your loved ones in general. There is no loss of perception or falling off in your ability to think. You are not emoting at this point, you are feeling-and it feels good!

Step Four: Take the lead.
You’re in charge. You decide. You take action. You create. When you frame your intention in a positive way, it’s up to you to decide not only how that feels but also what you’ll need to do to support that decision. Then, and this is critical for a nation of couch potatoes such as ourselves, you need to take action. If that means going to the store to buy a diamond - studded collar, then by all means do it.

Step Five: Stay with it.
Once you’ve given your beloved the diamond-studded collar, take a moment to reflect on the whole process. Try to be as centered in your feelings as possible. Go back to your original intention. In what other ways can you support that intention? Perhaps a platinum water dish or a mink-lined sleep sack. Your creation will evolve and reach ever amazing new heights if you stick with it.

Step Six: Know when to change.
Let’s face it. Everything gets stale sooner or later. Don’t get in the doghouse with your creations. Keep it fresh. You have limitless ability to create unique things and processes in your reality. Think of it as interval training for your reality creation muscle. The more you work that muscle, the more cool and amazing things you’ll be able to do. Bury the bones of your old creations and find something new to gnaw on when the time is right. Go get ‘em, Ace!

Step Seven: Take a nap once in awhile.
Happiness is being able to relax every now and again. Breathe deeply, hunker down and simply turn everything off for a time. Few things in life feel as good as a good snooze after a hard day of creating. Soon enough, you’ll be up and running after new creations again. Savor the peace when you can so you can be ready for the next amazing round of intentions.

Curiosity - The Desire To Explore the Unknown

We are born explorers, empty vessels, curious and fascinated by the world around us. It is human nature. Once our basic needs (physiological needs, safety needs, our need for love, belonging, and esteem) are satisfied - we come to the need of self-actualization.

Learning. Curiosity. Creativity. Knowledge.

My bet is, if you’re interested in exploring persuasion, you’ve got most of your base needs met and you’re working on this higher level where you constantly hunger for more. You desire to stretch and expand your intellectual boundaries and I am here to tell you, you’re in exactly the right place.

Persuasion is about much more than selling something and when you understand what I tell you next, you will find the good things in life - all you ever wanted - just fall into your lap.

If we’re living right, we’re using persuasion in all facets of life. We parent using persuasion. We build relationships using persuasion. We deal with setbacks using persuasion (possibly by reframing the ’setback’ as a ‘challenge’).

We engage in the world using these tools to open doors, to free ourselves of previous limitations, to take control of our lives.

We are explorers of this exclusive body of knowledge; persuasion pioneers, if you will.

If you’re already involved with me, you know exactly what I am talking about. But if you’re new to this world, it’s difficult to explain the feeling you will get, the power surge you’ll experience when your confidence level skyrockets and the opportunities in life that once seemed unattainable will begin to fall in your lap.

Scientists know all about DNA now. It’s all mapped out. They understand its strains.

What does it tell us? It tells us that we are very, very predictable organisms. For my taste, it makes things a bit too predictable, too mathematical. All of us - our lives, drives, inner selves, dreams, even how successful we’ll be - can be mapped out.

I don’t particularly like the thought of that, personally, because I always thought I was more complex than that. But even that need of mine - the need to feel different, or special, or whatever it is - can be mapped out.

As persuasion pioneers, this information is invaluable. The predictability of human nature is absolute gold. It’s the key to selling anything to anybody, anytime.

If we understand in terms of sales that the affluent, for example, have different triggers than others, (perhaps because of their heightened ability to acquire), then once we get their criteria we can combine it with predictable patterns of the affluent.

Then we can combine that with our agenda (product, service, etc.), resulting in an alchemy of persuasion that is almost impossible to resist.

Once I turned my attention to studying persuasion instead of just sales training, I discovered constantly unfolding insights everyday. These insights have been instrumental in helping me to find my life’s purpose and to feel in control of my life instead of feeling like I’m just being swept along the river of life. You can have this enlightened feeling too.

It is my absolute joy and pleasure in life to lead this exploration into sometimes charted, sometimes uncharted, territory. Together we will map out the persuasion universe.

Finding Inspiration

Creative people are often asked, “Where do you get your ideas?” or “Where do you get your inspiration?”

What people usually mean by these questions is, “How can I find my own inspiration?”

The surprising thing about inspiration is that it rarely comes when you’re sitting on the beach waiting for an idea to strike from the heavens.

Most creative people get inspired by sitting down and working on a project.

Let’s take a writer. She has an idea for a book, and knows she wants to write about a young artist who loses her sight in a car accident.

Our writer does not sit down in her comfortable recliner and just “think” about her story. She instead sits down at her desk and starts writing the story, or at least writing about the character.

She may start writing a character sketch, or make up a story involving the character to learn more about her.

As she works, she becomes “inspired” and makes notes for later in the story, as she really begins to understand what she is writing and get moving on the story.

The next day, when she comes back to write, she again may not feel inspired at first, but she has the work from the previous day to start with, and the inspiration comes.

The real story behind finding inspiration is that inspiration comes when you devote energy to something. Inspiration is not usually a sudden stirring in your brain that you just have to jump up and work with.

It’s more like a stream of water that originates from a hand pump. You must prime the pump, and then pump for a while, and then the water begins to flow. Just standing in front of the pump doesn’t produce water, but many people spend a lot of time looking at the pump wondering how it works.

To get inspired, the best thing you can do is just start working. You may find that your early steps are not what you eventually want, and you may have “wasted” work, but it’s not wasted if it gets you to your eventual destination, which is an inspired final product.

Inspiration is not nearly as hard to find, or as hard to keep flowing, as people often believe it is, but the difficulty with inspiration is that it does not always flow immediately, and many people are too impatient to keep moving through the beginning work to reach the inspiration.

It is sometimes hard to find inspiration. Sometimes we work for much longer than we expect, and just can’t get the energy flowing right. Sometimes we need to walk away and come back. But inspiration is far more consistent than most people realize.

This week, as you look for inspiration in your life, remember:

  • Get started with your work, and the inspiration will come. Spend at least 30 minutes getting inspired before you give up.
  • Watch what inspires you. Notice the things that really bring inspiration pouring forth.
  • Try to leave your desk each day with a little fuel, in the form of notes, waiting for the next day.
