HD DVD Out of the Race

So it appears that Toshiba is ready to throw in the towel. Although to this point it hasn\’t been officially announced, a company official stated that a board meeting was to be held to determine whether to give in to the Sony BluRay high definition DVD format. They did give a good fight but it appears that Sony will be the victor in this war.

What led to the decline of the HD DVD? The key component to the rise of the BluRay seems to be marketing. Movie studios seemed to have sided with BluRay early on. There were only a few studios that were solely producing HD DVD films. That seemed of no consequence when big box giant Wal-Mart declared they would only carry BluRay products. Other retailers like Target and Blockbuster are following suit as well.

In my opinion, Wal-Mart was the straw that broke this camel\’s back. Days prior, Netflix had announced it would discontinue HD DVD rentals. Other retailers seem to be following right behind them.

What does this mean for the small businessman? If you are offering a product that is quite similar to that of another merchant, be sure to market your product correctly. I would like for you to think of how many times you heard a media reference to HD DVD. Now, how many times have you heard BluRay references? I think you may be surprised that if you market appropriately and intelligently, you can be the victor. The key always comes down to marketing. Make sure you market a lot and market effectively. The competitor that does this will come out on top.

Tips To Lose Belly Fat

Have you ever imagined that it would be difficult to lose belly fat or have significant weightloss with all of today\’s fitness technologies? In fact the subject of losing belly fat and/or weightloss is in fact a popular subject in the work-out world. It doesn\’t matter if you have a lot to lose (i.e. pregnancy) or a little. The fat-loss solution elements consist of: Using resistance training to firm and build muscle, Lowering daily calorie intake and Increasing daily calorie burn rate. Losing weight and consistent fat-loss will be the result of these actions. Before we get started I think you should know that fat-loss is not selective. Despite the newest exercise or fitness device claims. However, the first place you tend to lose it is often the stomach area. This is also the area for significant weightloss as well.

Lower Calories

Let\’s start with you becoming aware of what you drink and eat throughout the day. This exercise should lead to the idea of not drinking calories and gaining weight. For example, drinking water instead of soft drinks is a great way to start this. By the end of the week consuming one soft drink adds up to almost 1,000 calories. If you drank water instead then that would be you losing about 1,000 calories by the end of the week. Just from switching to water in about a month loses you a pound.

Increase Daily Calories Used

You can almost double your efforts by taking in less calories and burning more calories at the same time. This synergistic effect may sound sound too simple to be true but it is very effective. To get started you need to burn more then 140 calories or so above what you would normally consume in a day. This can be done by increasing your walking, climbing stairs, jogging, running or exercising with kettle bells. Just find a way to basically move around more then you normally do. Consistently loses weight by following these actions listed above.

Use Resistance Training

By not incorporating this essential action into your daily program you will end up losing both muscle and fat. No big deal you may wonder but you wanted muscle tone as well. Just remember you didn\’t do this to have a lot of loose skin hanging around. Resistance training makes sure the right message is passed to your body. This message is as follows,”Let\’s keep the muscle and in fact let\’s make it stronger.” You will start to use muscle for energy if this important message isn\’t communicated leading to loose skin.

Closing

So there you have it the essential actions needed for how one loses belly fat. You will have increased fat-loss and lose weight if you follow the actions listed. The actions if followed consistently will allow you significant weightloss in a safe manner while losing belly fat.

Virtual PBX Review - What Exactly Is A Virtual PBX?

As you conduct your due diligence for a reliable office phone system, you may be considering a virtual PBX system as an option. This article should serve as an intro to these systems and assist you in conducting your virtual PBX review.

So What Exactly Is A Virtual PBX System?

A PBX or private branch exchange is simply an advanced phone system used primarily in office environments to handle and route calls to the appropriate party automatically or manually through a receptionist. A traditional hardware based PBX is exactly that - one that requires that the business owner lease or purchase the hardware and software on which to run the phone system.

Traditional hardware based PBX systems can be very costly to install and maintain and can run anywhere from the low thousands on up depending on the type of configuration your company requires. As you may already realize, traditional hardware based PBX systems are not something that typical small or startup businesses typically got involved with due do the high costs associated to install, set up, and maintain these systems.

With a virtual PBX system the hardware and software is hosted by the virtual PBX service provider. Since there is no hardware or software to install these systems are easier to set up and provide the small business owner all the same features as the hardware based version at a fraction of the cost.

This makes the virtual PBX an ideal office phone solution for small business owners on a tight budget. As you conduct your review be sure to research the companies thoroughly in order to find the best system for your organization.

Bodyweight Exercise Routines For Fat Loss

Few summers ago, my brother used this routine to drop 11 pounds in 30 days. Frankly speaking all this requires dedication and effort. As this is not going to be easy. Don\’t forget a good diet goes a long way in burning all the excess fat. Here\’s my idea Strict Diet + Bodyweight Exercises = Miraculous Fat Loss Results.

To implement this workout First you have to learn about Tabata principle. Tabata principle is Interval training routine developed by Dr Izumi Tabata (Japan). Basically this routine requires you to put maximum effort with routinely rest. According to him his ideal routine would look something like this

20 Second workout

10 second rest

20 Second workout

10 second rest

Same routine for 6 more times.

Dr. Tabata noted a 28% increase in anaerobic capacity in his subjects, along with a 14% increase in V02Max. And the best part was these results were witness in elite athletes. Just imagine what it\’ll do for mere mortals like us?

In this routine you are going to use 3-4 different exercises and rest intervals of 2 minute between the sets (1 set = 1 tabata workout routine).

You\’ll start with Bodyweight squats, Push ups, lunges, plank.

Bodyweight squat (20 sec X 10 sec rest) X 8 times

Rest 2 minutes

Push ups (20 sec X 10 sec rest ) X 8 times

Rest 2 minutes

Lunges (20 sec X 10 sec rest ) X 8 times

Rest 2 minutes

Plank (20 sec X 10 sec rest ) X 8 times

Finish.

Bodyweight exercises for women

I understand women requires different needs and workout, So here is very unique bodyweight exercise for women based on Dr Tabata protocol. Instead of doing the above routines (as it is bit advance). Instead of 20 second workout pattern, I suggest you to start with 20 repetitions and 10 sec rest.

If you have problems with 20 reps, then You can do just 10 reps and rest for 5 seconds. So Your workout will look something like this

Squats (10 rep X 5 sec rest) X 10-12 sets, 2 minute break

pushup (10 rep X 5 sec rest) X 10-12 sets, 2 minute break

Lunges (10 rep X 5 sec rest) X 10-12 sets, 2 minute break

Plank (10 rep X 5 sec rest) X 10-12 sets, 2 minute break

For beginners (both men & women): if you think your body can\’t handle this workout, then you can always scale your workouts to your body needs. As you grow stronger, you\’ll be able to finish this workout in no time.

Is There Such A Thing As Too Many Calories?

You may have a question on how many calories you need everyday. In fact, there is no definite answer to this question. It will depend on various factors. For example, your age, nature of your work and physical activities will affect the amount of calories you need.

There are people who maintain that we should have a 2,000 calorie diet. However, you will just be starving yourself if you that. In fact, the number 2,000 does not really make sense since it does not take other factors such as your age and nature of work, as discussed, into account. Do you think you can live off with 2,000 calories intake if you are a very active person physically? In fact, you should think of the calories in terms of your health but not the number.

Of course you should not just eat without thinking of the calorie intake. If you are having 5,000 calorie then there can be a problem. However, it is true that some people may need to be more careful with the amount of calories. For instance, people who are on diet because of heart problems or sugar problems may need to really be careful about the calories. Otherwise taking a little bit more will not harm you, if you exercise regularly.

In fact, you should not only think of calorie intake, you need to consider various factors if you want to be healthy. 3,000 calories may not be bad for your health. However, if all the 3,000 calories are from fried food, then it may render problems. To this end you may totally understand that why only focusing on calorie intake does not make any sense!

On the other hand, if you are taking 2,000 calories from fruit or veggies, and the other 1,000 calories are from meat, then there may not be any problem. At the end of the day what you eat will really affect your health. So, eating something good for you is more important than focusing on the notion of calorie intake.

As discussed, there can still be problem if you are having 5,000 calories a day. However, this will certainly depend on your live pattern. You should always consult your doctor if you really want to know how many calories you should have everyday. However, you have to always remember that you should consider the number, as well as the kind of food you eat.

Romantic Gifts For Her

First off it\’s important to understand what her definition of “romantic” is. It may well be very different from yours so you need to take the time to understand the sort of thing that touches her heart and would demonstrate your love for her.

Find a romantic photograph, perhaps your first date, first vacation, wedding etc. and have it made into a jigsaw puzzle. You can then spend an enjoyable evening working on it. You don\’t have to stop at photos of course. To get really mushy using something like the movie ticket from your first date, your wedding invitation, or the plane tickets for your honeymoon can really impress her.

Perfume is, and will always be, a very romantic gift. Why not go one step further? You can actually create perfumes nowadays. You can chose various scents from a list and create a perfume that matches her personality. Plus, you can chose the bottle and, more importantly, name the perfume yourself!

A weekend trip to a romantic location such as a cabin in the woods, a spa or even somewhere like the Caribbean will always go down very well. You\’ll be able to enjoy each other\’s company outside the normal routine.

If you really want something unique (and a little off the wall) get a tattoo with her name in! What better way to show your dedication to the relationship and your faith that you\’ll be together forever? Putting her name on your body in a way that is VERY difficult to remove is really romantic. As long as she is in to that sort of thing of course. Be careful though, if it doesn\’t work out it\’s gong to be expensive and painful to change that tattoo!

Can\’t decide between candy or flowers? Chocolate roses are the answer! These are unique and look lovely; in fact it will be shame to eat them, so make sure you have back up chocolate!

You can now get a real rose dipped in gold, silver or platinum. It retains the beauty of the flower, will last a very long time and will show that you are in it for the long haul.

Choosing a romantic gift isn\’t as hard as you think. You just need to put a little thought into it and spend some time to get it just right.

Tony Connor has been a forgetful last-minuter for many, many years. That didn\’t stop him starting a website, Bright Gift Ideas, with gift suggestions for everyone. For more romantic gift suggestions go to Gift Ideas for Her.

Is Midlife Entrepreneurship For You?

Do you think that entrepreneurship is just for the young? That anyone past 50 is simply too old to start up a business? That midlife is the time when you should be thinking about retiring and preparing to live on less? If you do and if you are, then midlife entrepreneurship isn\’t for you.

However, if you are someone who . . .

* likes to call the shots and live life on your own terms,
* has a strong desire for autonomy and independence,
* is a self-motivated starter,
* knows how to evaluate and take calculated risks,
* is highly self-motivated,

. . . then midlife entrepreneurship could be right for you.

I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. My grandfather owned his own business and worked as an electrician up until the day he died. He was 98. My father owned his own private practice and worked as an expert psychological witness up until three months before his passing. I, too, am an entrepreneur. And, like my father and grandfather before me, I enjoy my work, find meaning and value in what I do, and am passionate about making a difference in the world.

What about you? Could midlife entrepreneurship be right for you?

The Changing Face of Retirement

Retirement, and how we view it, has changed dramatically since the beginning of the 20th century. Before pension plans became standard offerings to U.S. workers during World War II, most people continued working until their death, relying on personal savings and family support to sustain them. While 65 is considered the normal retirement age in the U.S., many of today\’s midlife entrepreneurs eschew that age, preferring instead to remain actively involved in their businesses well into their 80s. With Baby Boomers comprising nearly half the country\’s self-employed workers (7.4 million), entrepreneurship among seniors is growing (so say reports from AARP and the U.S. Department of Labor). People turning 50 today still have lots of life ahead of them, and each year more than four million men and women join their ranks.

So, what is retirement, then? Is it the time when you stop work completely or is it the time when you retire from one job and begin another? Does it start at a certain age or depend on the number of years you have served in a specific capacity? Is it based on your physical condition or your personal choice?

10 Reasons for Becoming a Midlife Entrepreneur

1. You\’re healthy with many years ahead of you.
2. You want to stay involved and engaged.
3. You enjoy generating extra income.
4. You get to build a business around something you enjoy and are passionate about.
5. You have a full Rolodex and 20-30 years of experience to back you.
6. You want the independence and flexibility that comes from working for yourself.
7. You have confidence and experience, and know what you\’re good at.
8. You may already have a pool of money saved to help finance your business.
9. You can do business from home, using the Internet as your storefront.
10. As an entrepreneur, you aren\’t discriminated against because of your age.

So what does retirement mean to entrepreneurial men or women who have successfully woven passion into what they do as small business owners? Do they plan on retiring when they reach the age of 65? Do they even want to?

If you are happily turning your passion into profit, it\’s hard to think about stopping. Oh, sure, you could use some time away, an extended vacation, even a more relaxed pace. But do you actually want to retire and cease what you\’re doing? Or would you rather stay involved, continuing to contribute, and enjoying life fully?

These days retirement is what you make it. At present, the Baby Boomer generation is redefining retirement, shunning the conventional traditions of stopping, ceasing, and leaving in favor of staying involved, continuing to contribute, and following their passion. Like so many of them, you, too, might find that there are some very compelling reasons to either become or continue being an entrepreneur, well past midlife.

Fidel Castro - Cuba\’s Leader Steps Down Changes Nothing

On the street of little Havana in Miami, FL, people are celebrating in the streets because Fidel Castro, the man the Cuban refugee community has hated for decades has finally stepped down from power. Make no mistake, these people hate this man. This is the same community that cheered upon rumors of his death.

Fidel Castro has earned this level of vitriol. During the revolution he took peoples homes, businesses, deprived them of the expression of their religious beliefs and murdered many who just simply opposed his policies. Families separated, generations of Cubans growing up in a foreign land while their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers toiled with food shortages, lack of electricity and other horrors brought about by a government not interested in their well being at all.

Still, the man who spearheaded “la revolucion,” has left an indelible mark on the world of politics. Many in the American left see Castro as a misunderstood figure, who because of an embargo imposed since the 1960\’s, wasn\’t able to truly develop or promote the change he wanted for Cuba. Ironically enough, the top presidential candidate on the Democrat side, Barack Obama, has a Cuban flag in one of his campaign headquarters. This candidate, like Castro generated a revolution dedicated to change.

In popular culture Fidel has been a hero of social change; witnessed recently in the greatest work of propaganda in generations, Michael Moore\’s Sicko. Bookstores and libraries across Dade County are lined with not only his works, but works about him, both negative and positive. Influence, Fidel will live on for generations.

Castro\’s acolytes will not disappear from this earth as he steps down. Raul Castro, Hugo Chavez, and others permeate throughout Latin America, duping the poor and destitute into giving up what our constitution claims is god given; freedom. Then again can you blame the hungry? Can you blame the sick for wanting help and relief? That is the appeal that captures people and places these men in power, an almost Robin Hood quality of taking from the rich to give to the poor. Castro offered this and so do his disciples throughout Latin America.

I look upon this day, February 19, 2008, at a crossroads. Should we celebrate that the man who murdered thousands, nearly brought the world to the brink of WWIII, deprived so many hard working people of so much and destroyed families, is finally gone? Or should we look at this day with trepidation? Where are we headed?

Our top presidential candidate\’s rail against the capitalist system that has made them incredibly wealthy, much like Fidel while his people continue to starve. The people trying to run our country want to impose a hard nationalized health system where we have no choices or options. They seek to essentially create wealth redistribution policies based on profits or better yet based on our individual success. Among many other restrictive covenants our soon to be elected leaders would impose on us.

The future for Cuba does not begin today unfortunately. Raul Castro, younger brother of Fidel will carry the communist party torch with an iron fist. The Cuban exile community will most likely continue to hope for change, but when the political means of production are controlled by a small communist bourgeoisie it doesn\’t leave much for the brainwashed proletariat.

Plastic Surgery Through The Ages

Confidence comes from many sources, and one of them is feeling comfortable with how you look. Plastic surgery and other cosmetic enhancements might offer options for looking the way you always hoped to.

Plastic surgery is not for everyone and is not a decision to be taken lightly. My best patients are the most informed about what plastic surgery can and cannot do. They understand their own goals and how plastic surgery might help accomplish them. If you are seeking changes from plastic surgery, it is useful to understand what sorts of procedures are most helpful at different ages.

Teens: Focus on the center of the face.

We see a lot of people in their teens who are concerned about their noses. Sometimes they feel their nose is too large, or has a bump in its bridge, or that it simply does not match the rest of their face. Rhinoplasty (sometimes called a “nose job”) can bring the nose into harmony with the rest of one\’s features. The nose is at the center of the face. If people feel their nose has improved its appearance, they tend to feel much more confident in their overall appearance.

20\’s: Tune-up for bodies.

That means liposuction for men and women, and often breast procedures for women. Liposuction works best for people who are in good shape overall, but have stubborn areas that resist the good effects of diet and exercise. We do a lot of liposuction on men on their chests and “love handles” and for women on their thighs and tummies. Recovery from the procedure is usually rather quick, with most returning to work in several days.

Many women have breast augmentations to become larger or to make the breasts more even in size or position. Others have breast reduction procedures if they have always felt top-heavy. Increasingly, many men are having male chest reduction procedures in their 20\’s, if they are overly full in this area. This might be part of a situation called “gynecomastia” in which the male chest appears uncomfortably large.

30\’s: Time to bring out the eyes and smooth those first lines.

We see both men and women in their 30\’s who have full or baggy upper eyelids or puffiness of their lower eyelids. An eyelift can refresh the entire face and get rid of that tired-looking appearance. Fine lines often benefit from Botox treatments. This medicine works to quiet the tiny muscles in the face. When the muscles are quiet, they do not contract as deeply so they do not pull the overlying skin inward to cause wrinkles.

40\’s: Another body tune-up time.

By the time we reach our 40\’s, our bodies can show a bit of age. Sometimes a tummy tuck provides dramatic changes to the midsection. For men and women who have gained or lost a fair amount of weight, or for women who have had babies, a tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens the muscles beneath. The result is a new and flat contour. For women, the procedure can be combined with a breast lift, or a small breast implant to reshape the entire torso - a procedure we call the Rodeo Drive Mommy Makeover.

50\’s and 60\’s: Back to the face.

As we age, our skin tends to sag. In our 50\’s and 60\’s this loose skin usually is most noticeable in the neck, along the jaw line, and in the cheeks. A facelift tightens the muscles of the face and neck along with the skin. Modern techniques emphasize work on the deeper tissues, so the skin is not pulled very tightly. This provides a natural appearance to the result, and avoids the “windswept” appearance common from facelifts in the past. A gentle touch when working on the skin is especially important for facelifts in men, who can look somewhat feminized when the skin is pulled too tightly.

As a California plastic surgeon, I have seen that procedures work best when people have specific concerns they want to address. Plastic surgery will not solve social, family, or work problems. But it can help you feel comfortable in your own skin, and this sort of self-confidence goes a long way.

Wealth Comes As Fast As Multiple Streams of Income

There are many ways for you to make your income and to be richer. However, all these ways also entail some effort from you, so if you are not the type that wants to roll back your sleeves and get down to the dirty work, you are in for some years of hardship ahead. True wealth does not only come from being able to earn a lot, but to recognize what kinds of jobs will earn you the most money. In fact, not all jobs require you to put in too much effort in order to make some form of income.

Another mistake that people make when they think of making money is that you need only one way to get the money to come to you. That is, if you are working in the digital arena, shouldn\’t the Internet be the only place for you to make money? And if you are working in the brick-and-mortar world, shouldn\’t you stay away from the Internet and sell your wares in a brick-and-mortar store?

Thankfully, you can go both online and offline and get all the income that you would like. There are many ways for you to make income, and multiple streams of income can translate into a bigger bank account without you having to monitor each income stream too intently. If you are interested in mixing and matching some income streams, here are a few suggestions that you may want to take into consideration.

Online

The online world is fraught with commissions: when people click on the advertisements on a certain website, that website owner is given commissions for that click; in fact, in some cases, if that person makes a purchase at the new website thanks to the link provided by the previous one, then the website owner will also get a commission on that purchase. You can earn commissions by filling out surveys or playing games, or even by buying things online. If you are able to find out about these possible streams of income, then you will have some residual income to go along with your bigger income streams.

Product or Service

Is there any product or service that you would like to provide? Can you make gift baskets, wedding invitations, or personalized greeting cards with nice poems? Can you provide massages, edit papers, or write short articles? You can put up a blog or website that advertises your products and services, along with contact information. You can get paid for these sidelines, which you can do on the weekends. However, always check with your office if you are allowed to have multiple streams of income in this manner, as some contracts may stipulate possible conflicts of interest.

Don\’t Quit Your Day Job Just Yet!

Just because you\’ve discovered an easy way to make money online, this doesn\’t mean that your clicks and surveys will pay the bills. Stay with your day job and think of all these streams of income as sidelines that will augment your current income. Moreover, don\’t let these streams of income interfere with your job and your ability to perform well at the office. You will want to stay happy and healthy enough to cater to all jobs at once and still get all the income that you deserve.

These are only a few possible ways for you to make money, and if you are able to put all of them together, you will be able to have multiple streams of income. As you can see, not all of the possibilities presented will require you to do a lot of work. All you need to do is to be resourceful, and soon, you will have much more money, thanks to the online and offline worlds.

To learn more about generating multiple streams of income and discover the secrets that most will never know about creating lifelong financial independence be sure to follow the link in the resource box directly below.
